TOURNAMENT RULES &: REGULATIONS
Player Rules
- Eligible players are only those listed on the game sheet at the time of play.
- Players are required to have proper photo identification with them at all times.
- All players must wear their Hockey4Life sweater in all tournament games.
- All players must wear full hockey equipment, including a helmet and visor or face mask. Helmets must have chin strap. Face mask, neck protector and mouth guard are recommended.
- Players with chin strap not on will be asked to leave the ice until situation is corrected (at least on shift)
Game Format
- Each team is guaranteed at least three games.
- All teams must be ready to play at least 10 minutes prior to scheduled time.
- All games will consist of two twenty-minute periods with stop time in the last five minutes of the second period.
- In the first period, the clock will start at 22 minutes for warm up, with the puck dropping at 20 minutes. If an excessive delay occurs, teams may receive a delay of game penalty.
- 2 NHL Legends will play on each team for the third game.
- 1 Other Celebrity will play on each team. Celebrity can choose to play in all, some or just one of the team's games.
Rules
- Teams need a minimum of 7 players on the ice by "puck drop" to play.
- In the event that a team does not have a goalie, Hockey4Life will take best efforts to supply a goalie. Teams that know that they will not have a goalie should email rcohen@integratedmar.com stating team name, game time and contact information for team rep.
- If a team cannot obtain a goalie, they can play with 6 players on the ice, but none of the players can assume the position of goalie.
- In the event of a defaulted game, the team that did not default will be awarded a 1 – 0 victory. All players who do show up will play a pick-up hockey game.
- Mercy Rule: If a team leads by five or more goals in the second period of the game, running time will commence and will only revert back to stop time if the spread is reduced to within five goals.
- There are NO SLAPSHOTS allowed.
- BODY CHECKING is a 5 minute major penalty.
- HITTING FROM BEHIND, FIGHTING or any ATTEMPT TO INJURE will result in an AUTOMATIC SUSPENSION from the tournament, including pick-up games, celebrity games and playoff games.
- The head referees call will be final.
- In the event of a tie game, a three minute, sudden death 4 on 4 overtime will be played. At the end of the overtime, if the game is still tied, the game will remain tied.
- Points: 2 points for a win; 1 point for a tie, 0 points for a loss.
- Teams can have a maximum of 3 people on the bench for coaching, managing, etc.
Playoffs
- One NHL Legend will be assigned to each team for the playoff game.
- The top two teams in each division will play a single game playoff.
- Calculation of top two teams will be based on the following in order ranked:
- Points from wins and losses
- Plus minus of games played...maximum of +5 for any single game played
- Head to head record
- Total goals scored
- Total goals let in
- All playoff games will consist of two fourteen-minute periods with stop time.
- In the first period, the clock will start at 16 minutes for warm up, with the puck dropping at 14 minutes. If an excessive delay occurs, teams may receive a delay of game penalty.
- If the game is tied at the end of regulation time, a three minute, sudden death 4 on 4 overtime will be played. If the game is still not resolved, a three minute, sudden death 3 on 3 overtime will be played. If this does not result in a winner, a sudden death shoot out will be used to determine the winner.
