Eric N. B. Davies of Soma eGroup told me that SaaS has revolutionized Soma, and turned it from hardware focus to a business solutions deployment ./ consultancy focus.
My response was simple: business solutions deployment with a consultancy focus is definitely better than slugging it out with hardware sales and sub 10% margins and typically throwing in the consultancy knowledge and product services!!!!
I believe that the new tools have made the world better for most VARs. Easier to charge for what they do. Less travel time. Some time for a “normal” life (assuming that normal means better?). Of course, we all heard the promise of computers delivering a paperless office, giving us all more leisure time. Ya, that might happen, in the year 2525.
The Trusted Business Advisor program provides VARs with FREE, easy-to-use, powerful sales and marketing tools that are delivered via an SaaS model. It provides learning modules on the new technologies, social networks to allow Vendors, Distis and VARs collaborate and a slew of other things that are designed to make VARs more successful. And, I am very confident that they will make VARs more profitable.
