Do You Want To Be A Contributing Writer?
Posted by Robert M. Cohen at 1:09pm
President and Business Editor Integrated mar.com

In today’s era of social networking, I believe that trade publishers can no longer rely on providing their audiences “how to articles” that are written by staff writers who have never been in the trenches and thus lack the first hand experience as to what really works as opposed to what textbooks and scholars say should work.

To augment our editorial content, we are reaching out to experienced, hands on experts who have fought the battles. We want to hear about your wins and your loses ... what you did, how you did it and what your recommendations are for Channel Vendor people or Resellers.

If you want to be a contributing writer, we offer you high profile opportunities to get in front of our database of 200,000 channel members (Vendors, Distributors, Resellers, Consultants, Analysts, and Service Providers to the industry). Located mostly in Canada (17%) and the USA (80%), information is usually delivered in stories or blogs that typically range from about 250 to 750 words. Venues include:

Trusted Business Advisor. A weekly ePublication that provides Vendors, Distributors and VARs with a portal to a complete suite of programs, business education, industry research and knowledge, articles, vehicles, tools and much more. Editorial focus provides Resellers with basic business knowledge that helps them run their business more efficiently and how to separate themselves from “box pushers” by enabling them to provide SMBs with IT-centric business solutions.

eChannelLine. A daily ePublication focusing on providing our entire audience with a quick synopsis of the daily industry news they need to know.

Channel Advisor. A monthly ePublication that provides hardware vendors, software developers, system builders and service providers with tips on channel marketing and best practices regarding deploying the elements within the Channel Sales Cycle.

Blogs. Residing within mar.com’s Channel Business Community, current blog entries are automatically broadcasted to our database through links on the outbound pages of all three publications.

If you want to share your knowledge and enhance your profile within the IT Channel, please email me. Together, we will make the Channel more profitable for all of us.

Cheers.

"Hi Robert, I'd be interested in participating through a blog; I think this would probably be the best fit for me. Please contact me at the email address included if you would like to discuss this further. Thanks, Steve"

Robert M. Cohen replies:
Hi Steve:

Sounds great. I would like to find out more about your
background. Over the next day or two I will be sending
out guidelines, etc. It will be fun, informative, good
for the channel and great for getting your name out to
the marketplace.

Cheers.

"
Robert - good idea to use the power of the people to
generate content via social media and contributing writers.
Good luck in your search.
"

Robert M. Cohen replies:
Thanx Mary Ellen for the good wishes. The response has
been terrific. Lots of very experienced industry people
wanting to get involved, including some high end people
from distribution ... which brings up the next topic:
your president is very in tune with the industry and
speaks very well.

Last November I had a brief discussion with him, at
your event, about him becoming a contributing writer
for us (we have other disti people doing this).
Ideally, I would like him to write about the business
side of being a VAR ... what VARs have to do, why and
how it will help them grow their business.

Please call me to discuss.

"Sounds interesting. Robert, do you remember me? Wrote for EC&I and graphic exchange years ago about life in the trenches. Regards, Victor"

Robert M. Cohen replies:
Hi Victor:

Honestly, your name is familiar, but I do not remember
you. Definitely remember EC&I and Graphic Exchange and
definitely interested in articles about life in the
trenches. Let's talk and see how we can work together
through the Contributing Writer angle and any other
areas that make sense.

When you get some time, please call me to discuss
articles and provide me with an update as to what you
are doing these days. You can reach me at 905-763-1200.

Cheers.

Robert M. Cohen replies:
Hi Kevin:

Welcome aboard. It is a fabulous way to get mind space
with your customers. We should also talk about how
Stampede can participate in TBAs W3 Channel Enablement
program. Let me know when you are available next week
for a conference call.

Cheers.

talk and put together a plan as to what you will write
about, due dates, etc.

Please call me at 1-800-465-2059 to discuss.
