Trust in the Channel

On countless occassions, I and many others have talked about the need for trust in the channel. We have all acknowledged that trust is the heart of a good channel relationship. The question is how is trust built and maintained.
Trust involves more than knowledge. A person that can talk about the nature of trust and the definition of trust, may or may not be trustworthy. Trust is earned and given. It is based on something deeper than books, spreadsheets or even emotional appears. There is something spiritual about trust. It involves mercy, justice and integrity. These are words that we struggle to define because they run deeper than an emotional appeal or don't have a pat answer to a multiple choce question.
I have been exploring this issue of spirituality among business professionals and recently released a book on the topic (www.faith-in-business.com). You will fiind additonal blog entries on this topic there also.
What I am saying is that if we are going to really trust our partners, we need to not just understand the text book definition of trust, but work on the underlying principles in our own lives and business cultures.
I welcome your feedback.
