What Really Makes The TBA Program Better?
Posted by Robert M. Cohen at 3:02am

I'm pumped. I have been receiving tremendously complimentary emails for the past few days as key stakeholders in the IT Channel are joining the ChannelLine Advisory Council’s Trusted Business Advisor Steering Committee.

About an hour ago I received another email, this one from Michael Reuben, Ph.D., President of L.A. Computer Works. Michael said:

==================================

Robert,

I am excited at the opportunity to become a part of the ChannelLine Advisory Council’s Trusted Business Advisor Steering Committee. I have diligently worked to educate myself on how to best operate my business over the years and have been an active participant in many areas of the VAR community. I have been a member of the Channel Advisory Council, the Ascii Group, CompTIA, Robin Robin’s Genius Group, SMBTN, the HTG online peer group and attended many other VAR community groups and meetings over my 23 years in business. I would be pleased to have the opportunity to help others in our community take their business to the next level and at the same time get a chance to improve my business standing as well.

I look forward to learning more about your plans and hope for the chance to be an active participant.

Michael's email got me thinking about all the people who are already banking on the TBA program to help change the IT Channel in North America. This got me thinking about the tremendous responsibility I have taken on. So, I asked myself one simple question: What Really Makes The TBA Program Better?

As I pondered this question for about the millionth time, I suddenly came to the realization that I have taken on a ton of responsibility. However, unlike traditional programs built by Vendors, Distributors or Associations ... at the end of the day, the TBA program will belong to the stakeholders that get involved.  CLAC and thus my responsibility is merely to create the infrastructure and bring together the various stakeholders (Vendors, Distributors, Sellers, Suppliers to the industry and the end users). Then, these stakeholders will determine what needs to be included in the TBA Business Certification program and will help drive it forward.

What makes the TBA Program Better? It is the tremendous IT Channel people who are devoting their time and energy to make the IT Channel more profitable for all of us.

To all those who have already responded ... thanx.

To those thinking of joining ... I strongly suggest you do.

To all ... please send me an email or post a blog response, and let me know what YOU think should be included in the business certification program.

Cheers.
